PR contract – Head Holiday

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a PR, preferably with experience in the travel sector, to promote the soft launch and beta testing phase of a new virtual reality travel app called Head Holiday. 

We need you to promote use of the app among UK-based travel enthusiasts and housebound audiences in the period coming up to, and covering, the app’s launch at the end of October. 

This will include (but may not be limited to):

  • Preparing and distributing press releases
  • Recruiting enthusiastic testers 
  • Creating digital marketing assets 
  • Working with us on an outline social media marketing plan

We estimate this will be about 5 or 6 days’ work over approximately 5 weeks, with an immediate start, but we have a little flexibility on the number of days if needed. 

About the project

Head Holiday is a 360 degree video platform curating some of the best travel, culture and nature video available. 

A Live Cinema UK project, the creation of Head Holiday is funded by Innovate UK — the UK Government’s innovation arm. 

The content is a mixture of existing immersive video, content we have made in-house, and content we have commissioned. 

Head Holiday promotes the use of a cardboard viewing device to see this content in the most immersive way possible, without a VR headset. 

Content has three main purposes for audiences:

  • To inspire and influence travellers looking to book their next getaway, supporting the travel and culture sectors
  • To provide an entertaining and immersive ‘slow cinema’ experience
  • To promote mental and emotional wellbeing through digital nature

We expect to launch the beta version of the app at the end of October, to operate it for three months, and then to gather user feedback and use this to build our business plan for the long term life of Head Holiday. 

About us

Live Cinema UK are a not-for-profit arts company who produce, promote and research immersive screening events. 

Usually this work takes the form of live soundtrack shows, live action interventions, and 360 degree screens. 

In the wake of Covid-19, we have turned our knowledge and expertise to this new project which combines our extensive experience with 360 degree video, and our audience insight, to bring immersive experiences to housebound viewers.
