DEADLINE EXTENDED TO WEDNESDAY 17TH MARCH

Despite national lockdown keeping our beloved cinemas and partner venues closed, this is actually an exciting time for the team here at Live Cinema UK as we produce our first feature film (Dust and Metal) and develop our immersive 360 video production, exhibition and new app (Head Holiday) that’s being developed through – and as a direct response to – lockdown.

During this time, we are seeking innovative and experienced individuals to join us as members of our non-executive board of directors. The board will work with the Live Cinema UK Director to ensure our broad portfolio of both commercial and non-profit projects offer an enriched and exciting future for immersive events in a post-pandemic world. This is an exceptional opportunity for individuals excited by the potential and innovation of the cinema and immersive events industry.

We are on a mission to change the industry, to be fairer and much more representative and accessible for all. We recognise that change needs to come from the top so we are pledging to form a diverse, well-represented and inclusive Board. We’re keen to hear from individuals who have perhaps never considered themselves eligible or suitable for a Board in the creative non-profit sector. We’re keen to hear from anyone, regardless of age, industry expertise or personal background.

We are looking for people from all sectors including arts, film, and immersive media, as well as outside the sector to help develop our commercial operations. The skills and expertise we would like to represent on our board include:

  • Business development, especially with experience in commercial apps, immersive media and capital projects
  • Legal expertise, including IP and company (re)formation
  • HR and policy development, including equality and diversity
  • Fundraising and management of not-for-profit creative projects: Arts Council, Innovate UK, BFI etc.
  • Management or programming at a senior level in arts and film organisations

Time: approx. 4 meetings per annum minimum with additional sub-group meetings as required.

Remuneration: as a limited company, we are committed to ending a culture of unpaid work in the cultural sector, and so are keen to pay our board members for their time. The first board meeting will vote on remuneration levels for non-exec directors though initially this post is advertised unpaid. All expenses to attend in person meetings (if and when they can resume) will be covered, though initially meetings will take place remotely.

Equality & Diversity: Live Cinema UK upholds an absolute commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we would particularly like to hear from candidates from under-represented groups whose professional and personal experience will bring new perspectives, understanding and capacity to the Board. As a regionally based organisation, we are keen that our Board also represents the UK’s regions, specifically Huddersfield and West Yorkshire and highly encourage any prospective candidates from these areas to apply.

We are also seeking one board member to act as a Chair who will confidently guide the newly appointed board and the organisation through the challenges that lie ahead for every arts organisation.

Board members will receive additional benefits including complimentary tickets to all Live Cinema UK events.

How to apply: Please send a covering letter and CV to lisa@livecinema.org.uk. We are happy to talk to anyone interested informally about the positions;, please contact Live Cinema UK director Lisa Brook by email at lisa@livecinema.org.uk to arrange an informal discussion. If you require the candidate materials in an alternative format, please request it in your initial contact.

Closing date: Wednesday 17 March 2021
