As we look towards 2021, we’re delighted to share with you a handful of projects we’ve been working on during the turbulence of 2020. We’re excited to be offering venues and partners a range of live cinema shows and events for the coming year alongside our national film tour of Asunder, our Surround Stories Lab project and the ongoing development of our Head Holiday app.

DJ YODA’S TARANTINO AV SHOW

DJ Yoda’s Tarantino AV show explores the work of one of Hollywood’s most iconic directors, in a live spectacular. The multi award-winning producer takes to the turntables for a new spin on Tarantino’s well-loved cult classics. Expect the unexpected and everything in-between, as DJ Yoda reinvigorates his craft with wry invention and humorous intent. Yoda’s AV show is perfect for hardcore fans of Tarantino as well as newly introduced audiences. The show will be available to bring to a range of spaces from cinemas to music venues. DJ Yoda is a multi-award-winning hip-hop DJ and producer, headlining festivals and clubs around the world. No typical club DJ, his interests lie in finding fresh and unique ways to bring turntables out of the club and getting involved in bespoke collaborations. We recently collaborated with him on a special Dome Session with live 360º visuals from Cardiff’s CultVR. HAIKU SALUT NATIONAL TOUR: SILENT CINEMA LIVE SCORES

At the beginning of lockdown, we approached live-score artists Haiku Salut with a challenge: to produce two original pieces of music to accompany two silent films of our choice. The challenge was accepted. What followed were two online premieres of the scores, accompanying the films. Both premieres were fundraisers for a range of regional cinemas including The Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds, The Showroom in Sheffield, The Northern Light in Wirksworth, and more. Now Live Cinema UK presents a national tour of the music and films, designed for cinemas and an opportunity to experiment with a new format of short-form exhibition. We are offering the whole show twice in one evening to maximise the audiences size who can experience it within social distancing restrictions. This is an innovative new presentation format we are trialling in order to maximise audiences for venues via short form content during social distancing restrictions. An hour between the two sets provides the opportunity for venue cleaning, and to safely change over audiences. We expect high take up for the event given the popularity of both released tracks being played on BBC 6 Music.
